Best times

May and June

You will enjoy comfortable temperatures and blue skies. And - at least to the middle of June - tourist swarms haven't yet taken over Athens.

September and October

Gradually becomes cooler, but it's still nice (at least up to mid October).

Least desirable times

July and August

Midday temperatures are sweltering. Foreign and national tourists take over Athens and thereby create high prices, long waiting lines, and limited accommodation availability.

November to March

This is the cold, windy, cloudy, raining season. That's not what a sightseer needs.

Greek Islands

The above information is generally valid for the Greek Islands, though their summer temperatures are agreeably lower than Athens'.
