The town was home to one of the Original Seven Wonders of the World: The Colossus of Rhodes.

Short lifespan

This skyscraping bronze statue was erected around 280 BC and was toppled a half century later by an earthquake.

Today

Nothing remains of it for the modern traveler to Greece.
