I give honorable mentions to travel attractions that come close to making the Top 1000 Hillman Wonders of the World list.

Eight Czech travel wonders made my Top 1000 list (see list on left and the clickable map near the bottom of this web page).

Below are the two Czech honorable mentions.

Pribram Mining Museum

The Pribram mine dates back at least to 1216. Old buildings have been preserved and contain several dozen educational exhibits showcasing mining machinery, tools and clothing of the past. The museum documents successes and tragedies, including the mass death catastrophe of 1892.

Telc Square

Cinema directors have discovered that the main square of the small hilltop town of Telc is a charming background for filming a movie. The triangular square is rimmed with preserved sixteenth century stone Renaissance burgher houses sporting eye-catching arcades (see photo). Telc also boasts an interesting chateaux castle.
