Travel tips you can trust
Why Antalya
in Turkey is special
The restored old quarter (named Kaleici) of this popular Mediterranean resort city has narrow, winding, cobblestone streets lined with old wooden houses and historic structures. It is bounded by ancient defensive walls.
Yacht Marina
The scene is photogenic with luxury yachts moored in a petite harbor flanked by tall city walls.
Hadrian Gate
A striking 1,800-year-old triple-arch entrance to the historic center.
Antalya Museum
An award-winning museum with an archaeological focus.
Yivli Minare
This fluted, blue/turquoise-tiled minaret has become the unofficial icon of Antalya.
Clock Tower
The structure (not the clock) dates back to Roman times.
Day trips
The area around Antalya is rich in day-trip destinations, with Aspendos the star. It has a well-preserved ancient Roman Amphitheater seating 15,000 and is used today for opera and ballet festival events.
When to come
April, May, September, and October are your best-bet months. Some summer days (especially in July and August) are uncomfortably hot. Mid-winter months can be too chilly and rainy for ideal beach-resort vacations.
